       Dial 999 ask for Police, then when in contact with police ask for Mountain Rescue

         What area do you cover?

       The team's main operational area is the western part of the Brecon Beacons National Nark and the western South Wales valeys, along with all the remote and rough terrain of West Wales as shown on the map page. Also the team supports its neighboring MR Teams throughout all of South Wales

          What does it cost to run the team?

      It costs between £10,000 and £15,000 annually for the team to remain operational. This figure does not include specialised items of equipment, or capital items such as replacement vehicles  etc

         How many times do you get called upon?

      In 2009 the team attended a total of 25 call outs although it received many more calls for advice.

         What type of incidents do you get called for?

       The team get called for a variety of incidents, ranging from searching for lost and injured persons in the mountains, to lost and injured persons in the mountains, to lost vunerable people missing in semi urban and on rough ground. Also technical rescues on cliffs and steep ground.

         Do team members receive payment or expenses?

       Team members recieve no payments and they pay fro their own equipment, and training.

         Who can join the team?

      The team accepts anyone from all walks of life,  between the ages of 18 to 70 years. For either rescue or support roles

         How much of my time will I need to give if I join?

      For a rescue role, attendance at the team training programme, depending on personal circumstances.                        For a support role then as much time as you can give

         How fit do I need to be if I join?

      For a rescue role, the minimum fitness, is being able to walk in the mountains of south wales with a packed rucsac for at least 4 hours as a minimum. For a support role there is no fitness criteria

         What does it cost to join the team?

      Team members must provide their own equipment and pay a set fee of £12 for the training weekends  (this includes all food etc) and when a pager is issued a monthly donation of £5.00

         What equipment will I need to be able to join?

        For a rescue role you will need as a minimum hillwalking equipment that includes boots and waterproofs. For a support role no equipment is necessary
