The team meets weekly, on each Monday night at its HQ at Sarn, Bridgend from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. During these sessions, a lecture is delivered on subjects appertaining to the team along with general training and maintenance of equipment.

The team is unique,  in that it believes in being very active with its practical training and completes a full training weekend, completed generally on the first weekend of every month, somewhere in a mountainous area. This is where the team actually practices the skills learnt in theory from its Monday night’s training at its HQ. It also enables team members to gain practical working  knowledge of differing terrains and the rescue scenarios employed. Also it enables team members to work as a team.

Each team member has a personal training record, in which they keep an up to date copy of all training they have attended and received. The recording and monitoring of all training, allows for progression within the team via a number of membership categories: novice; trained member; senior trained  member; logistical support.
