These core skills form the foundation of every rescue we carry out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many team members also hold nationally recognised qualifications in specialist roles. This includes expertise in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">casualty care, advanced first aid, emergency driving, and swift water rescue. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each of these roles requires advanced training, technical equipment, and in some cases dedicated vehicles ensuring we can respond effectively to a wide range of incidents, wherever they occur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>This expertise doesn\u2019t happen by accident. Our team trains <\/span><b>every Monday evening<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and during the <\/span><b>first full weekend of each month<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Brecon Beacons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a great deal to learn, even for experienced mountaineers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New team members begin with <\/span><b>basic training in search techniques<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which can take around 12 weeks depending on individual experience. From there, training progresses into areas such as casualty care, technical rope work, navigation, and operating in challenging environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It typically takes <\/span><b>12 to 24 months<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to become a fully operational team member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And even then, training never stops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mountain rescue is constantly evolving. New techniques, equipment, and challenges mean our team continues to train regularly to stay ready for any situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Join Us<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re always looking for people aged 18 and over to join the team, whether in a <\/span><b>support role<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or as an <\/span><b>operational rescue member<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being part of mountain rescue is about more than responding to callouts. You\u2019ll learn essential search and rescue techniques, ensuring you are safe, capable, and ready to progress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of the programme, you\u2019ll be assessed for operational readiness. If successful, you\u2019ll begin attending callouts under the supervision of experienced team members, gaining real, hands-on experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Becoming a Rescue Member<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019ve completed the basic skills stage, training progresses to more advanced areas, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technical rescue<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advanced casualty care<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working safely near water<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This prepares you for <\/span><b>full Rescue Membership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, such as <\/span><b>Party Leader<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or specialist roles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mountain rescue is a journey of continuous learning.
